October.... sigh

I keep thinking that things are going to settle down.  But alas... they are not.
So October... it's all about Halloween right? yup.  And this crazy mother decided that if she could make the costumes cheaper than buying, then that's what we would do.  I had some shiny pink fabric and blue lacy fabric and Gracie wanted to be a fairy princess.... so.... I made a mock up, did some alterations and then put the real thing together....

Elijah's was a little trickier.  He wanted to be Captain America... with a shield.  I found the whole thing, for 30 bucks... so off I went.  I found a short sleeved blue shirt for 4 bucks, he had a long sleeved white shirt already, blue pants for 10 bucks, and long red socks for 3 bucks.  That's 17, so far....I needed 4 rolls of duct tape for his shield... and that came to 12 bucks... so I saved a whole 1 dollar... BUT....
It was TOTALLY worth it.  I'm sure he would have been happy in the store bought outfit, but to have something custom made for him... I think that it was pretty special.

Grace is still enjoying her dance class.

We've also gotten out a little.  We went to Fit For Fun for the first time in AGES.  Grace would have played in the ball pit all day... but then they brought out dress up stuff:

Of course, October wouldn't be complete without a visit to the Pumpkin Patch and decorating pumpkins.

Unfortunately, our double sided pumpkin wilted after a few days.  Alas.  The other pumpkins are going strong.
And of course, there is trick or treating... UNFORTUNATELY... Elijah started coughing on Thursday.  Eh. I volunteered at his Fall Festival on Friday and brought him home after that.  Then Friday night, I was up with him from midnight until about 4:00 with him coughing... and then he woke up again at 6.  That was insane.  Jerry had a meeting, but when he came home, I sent him back out with Elijah to Urgent Care.  The cough was too barky and he had too much trouble trying to get a breath.  The doctor there said, "Some sort of bacterial infection or virus.  But he's rattly."  So home he came with an antibiotic and was sad because he had to miss his next to last soccer game. :(  BUT he did feel better-ish by Sunday.  We missed our friend's Halloween party Saturday night.  We took Sunday easy.  Both kiddos had Monday off and we had planned on hanging with friends at the park, but the weather was crappy and I really didn't want Elijah to have any sort of relapse, so we hung out at home, met Jerry for lunch and rested for a bit.  Jerry was supposed to be in class Monday night, but his work was insane and he had to skip... BUT that meant that he could take a short break to go trunk or treating with us. We were going to go with friends, but with the sickies, the weather, the fact that it was a school night... We went to a local church with the most organized Trunk or Treat I have ever seen.  The kids got a TON of candy and there were bouncy houses, games, and dinner.  The only thing that cost anything was the dinner and the 4 of us ate for under 20 bucks.  We were done with everything by 715.... kids were in bed by 8.  Very much fun!

And thus ends October.  I PROMISE to do updates on the individual kiddos VERY soon.

PS until I get un-mad and un-annoyed with Windows Live Writer, I apologize for the stupid layout and stuff.   Blogger annoys me too, but at least I can add pictures and be done in under 7208734 hours.
