September Already?

September started on Tuesday but I need to go back to Monday for things that were, I feel, put in motion for this month.

On Monday the weather was supposed to be chilly and rainy!  Nice, but I needed to get out of the house.  So I packed the kids into the car and headed to the mall to walk and then play.  We met with Kristie&co after our walk,  Riding our normal merry-go-round ride and then off to the play area via the ride on cars.  While we were in the play space there was a little girl there whose dad (we honestly didn't know who she belonged too until we saw her later in the food court) obviously didn't care a bit about what she did. She pushed Grace off a little bridge.  It wasn't an opps-I-ran-into-you push, it was a stop-both-hands-out-intentional push.  GRRRR!  I told her that pushing hurt and she shouldn't do that.  I controlled myself in not dragging her by the ear kicking and screaming to her dad.  Now this play space isn't huge.  I raised my voice to this child and if some parents had said something to my kid, I would have been over there in under 2 seconds.  No one blinked at me saying something to this girl.  While we were there, she pushed another kid, knocked someone over, and kicked our friend.  SERIOUSLY???  We left the area.  Had some lunch and went home.

Tuesday, Grace was poopy... in the runny sense and had a low grade fever. Then threw up twice.  But the throw up was more snotty than anything.  By Tuesday night she was fine and never acted sick. I blew it off as teething.  She's cutting two molars and one bottom front tooth.  But we stayed home and Elijah wanted to play with his roller skates and Grace wanted to dress like her brother.

So since the weather was SO nice and Grace was feeling better, we went to the super cool "big rocket ship" park on Wednesday.  We haven't been there in a while since there are no bathrooms (it's run by a church that opened it to the public) and it's in direct sunlight.  But it is a really fun park.  So we hung out there and Kristie&co. met us again.

The morning was great.  We had a picnic lunch and on the way home we saw a train.  This isn't a huge deal, but ya know to a three year old, it really is...  Grace actually fell asleep at the park, but woke up in the car and took another nap when we got home.  Not too odd.  She occasionally still takes two naps. (Another difference between her and her older brother, who gave up his morning nap at 10 months!)  But when she woke up she was burning up.  She had fever of 102.5.  She acted okay though.  So I gave her some ibuprofen and we went on with the day.  She was a little more clingy than normal.  But we went outside and played ball and hung out until Jerry came home.

Then last night happened.  Grace's fever went down to 101 with the IB and then shot back up to 103.  She was tossy and couldn't get comfy.  At 1:55am Elijah came in and wanted to sleep with me, so I took Grace to Jerry and tried to get Elijah back into his bed.  It was not successful.  We have been trying to get him to stay in his bed all night.  sigh.  It didn't work.  I was in the living room until 3 when I gave up on him going to sleep and went to bed. He came in to my room at 3:15 and I was just too tired to fight anymore.  He wiggled until 4 when we finally feel asleep.  Since I hadn't gone to sleep I was exhausted.  Elijah was up at 7:30 this morning as was a sick Grace.  She has massive diarrhea and a fluctuating fever all day.  Her nurse said that there is a stomach bug going around, that I'm almost positive that he picked up at the mall play space (probably from that little brat of a girl... but ya know, maybe I'm just holding her responsible for pushing my little girl and want to punish her in my mind.)

I hope that my baby girl feels better soon.  High fevers scare me.  This afternoon the Tylenol and IB really haven't done much in the way of bringing her temp down.  I just feel so bad for her.  We hung out at home today (obviously) except for a quick trip to the drug store to purchase some Pedilyte for Grace and ended up with pirate swords and a funky flower to boot!  Elijah did really well today with my attention focused mostly on Grace.   Tomorrow he starts soccer class again, so that will at least be something for him.  Though I'm a little nervous.  He is going on his own and I'm nervous that he isn't going to participate since I won't be on the field with him.

the flower is mighter than the sword? poor sickie girl...

Here's hoping that tomorrow is good for Elijah and sees Gracie feeling SO much better!
