Motherhood...

Someone commented on my FB page that I watch a lot of TV.  I know that she wasn't criticizing me, but it did make me think about what I do during the day, and if I do watch too much.   You be the judge..
Today I....
  • woke up at 7:03 to the giggling of a little girl that in turn woke up her older brother who bounced out of bed wide awake and full of energy.
  • checked my email while Jerry heated up oatmeal for the kids
  • fed Grace and convinced Elijah to eat his oatmeal while Jerry got ready for work.
  • watched Curious George while dressing two children and myself.
  • stuffed a bowl of cereal in my mouth while Grace finished off Elijah's oatmeal.
  • traded strollers out of the car and made sure some beach toys could fit underneath the stroller, while Grace screamed at the top of her lungs and Elijah ran around the house opening all the doors.
  • came back in and closed all the doors.
  • packed snacks in a smaller bag along with two diapers, toddler wipes and infant wipes.
  • filled two water bottles with water.
  • applied sunscreen, brushed hair,  found shoes.
  • made an appointment for my new tooth to be put in.
  • loaded children in the car.
  • ran back into the house to get sunglasses for whole party.
  • stopped to get gas...played peek a boo to keep children from screaming at the top of their lungs.
  • arrived at parking lot, wrestled stroller out of trunk, loaded diaper bag (lucked out finding the camera was in the car!) and loaded the kids.  unloaded kids to take a bathroom break, reloaded them...
  • affixed hats and sunglasses to everyone in party (sans hat for me because Elijah wanted to wear it.)
  • walked 1.5 miles to beach, discussed various boats, dogs, birds, water areas, fish, cars, bikes, runners, stores, and houses.
  • unloaded kids, blanket, sand toys, diaper bag, removed shoes and had water break.
  • found a spot on beach, spread blanket, played in sand, stomped in water, fed kids snack, took pictures.
  • folded blanket, gathered toys and diaper bag, washed feet, put on shoes, loaded all into stroller.
  • walked 1.5 miles back to parking lot, loaded everything into car, called Jerry for lunch, Jerry is not ready, unload kids and go to park.
  • climb stairs, slide down slides, catch kids at bottom of slide, climb more stairs, un-stick knee caught in between bars, push both kids on swing, assist Grace across bridge, watch Elijah climb the monkey bars, change Grace's diaper, realize Elijah had a minor accident...make a trip to the car, get change of clothes, go to bathroom, find a toy for Grace to entertain herself, change and clean up Elijah (remain calm...it was a true accident and very minor), wash hands, Jerry calls, ready for lunch.
  • load car, drive hungry, grouchy children to restaurant, appease children by singing silly songs at top of lungs.
  • meet Jerry at restaurant, acquire table, secure order, get drinks, entertain kids until food is ready, feed children, Grace is getting tired and nothing is right in her world, cram food down throat, Jerry gets the cookies and cleans up, gather kids and head to the car.
  • Grace falls asleep in the car, Elijah eats his cookie.
  • unload Elijah to house turn on Super Wy, unloaded diaper bag, turn off car, unload Grace, try to put her down... not so much, pee, carry Grace around to calm her down, wash a load of clothes, settle into the couch, check email, Super Wy ends, Elijah goes to bed (supposedly), rock Grace back to sleep, put her in Jerry's room, Elijah comes out of room to poop, wipe his butt, send him back to bed, finish checking email, watch Clean House in the background, Grace wakes up, bring her out and rock her, fall asleep, Elijah comes out of room 3 more times, I loose patience, tell him to go to the room and shut the door, answer phone from dentist, change appointment time, fall back asleep.
  • wake kids up at 4:00, find Elijah buried underneath a cave of pillows, find snack and juice, watch half of Authur, Elijah wants to play fire trucks, he brings them out, we play, decide to video Skype Oma and Opa, talk for a bit, Elijah starts going crazy running around and smacks his nose into the counter, decide it's bath time.
  • run the water, find the water toys, throw them and the kids into the bath, run around and pick up all the clothes and clean up the toys, bathe Grace, dry her off, dress her, drain the water, start the shower, wash Elijah's hair, leave him to wash his body, dry him off, get him dressed, send kids off to play, start dinner (turkey cheese burgers, baked beans for me and Jerry, hot dogs, grapes, baked beans, chips, and apple sauce for the kiddos), crying erupts, end argument, missed a call - Jerry is running late, plate kiddos and my food pop Jerry's into microwave to retain heat, eat, 1/3 of Finding Nemo, Jerry comes home (he eats gets hugs we have a few minutes to catch up.)
  • time for bed, Jerry takes Grace into office to listen to music, Elijah and I do yoga, Elijah and I read 7 books, Elijah goes to bed, insists on sleeping on floor, wakes up 8769876245 times with a new excuse each time to not sleep, Grace gets put down, has woken up 3 times and is currently sleeping on Jerry's chest in the office, Elijah is asleep (finally) on the floor, I have watched So You Think You Can Dance, Glee, and now Top Chef, then I will brush my teeth, wash my face, and read until I fall asleep, Elijah will undoubtedly come get in bed at some point tonight and Grace will be in bed with Jerry, in fact, Elijah just started screaming in his sleep... sigh...
And tomorrow looks just as busy... this is not including all the booboos kissed, all the dances danced, all the songs sung, all the hugs, kisses, pick ups, cuddles, snuggles, tears wiped, band-aids given, stories listened to on my part, laughs, smiles, toys found, and mere being that happened somewhere in there...
So, um, yeah, I think that few hours of TV is okay...

I remember that FB comment. And I am glad that you are strong in your convictions. Your children are just fine, and so are you. That's all you need to worry about. <3
