Vacation Week 1

So yeah.  I know.  No May.  No June.  It will all come.  Maybe this week, but right now.  The kids and I are vacation in the mountains.  We drove up last Saturday.  I drove by myself with the kids for the first time (well for a far distance... not to like school.)  Anyway, our first week here was really centered around swim lessons.  Grace had lessons in the morning and Elijah had lessons in the evening.  In between, we slept.  heh. I am sure I have mentioned that I LOVE these swim lessons.  I'm so impressed with how they teach the kids, as well as how much the kids learn in just 4 days.  Grace passed Level 1 this year and can swim underwater, float on her back and front, kick with a kick board, and swim the crawl with assistance.  Elijah passed Level 2 and can swim the crawl, back stroke, tread water, jump in and swim, roll from back to front and swim, and glide on his front and back.
Grace:
ring around the rosie

kick boardin'

practicing the strokes

blowing bubbles

jumping in the "deep end."

swimming underwater

back stroke

hello little bit!

diving for quarters

and Elijah:
kickin' it up

boardin' across the pool

jump

the crawl

back stroke

diving for a ring
So we did do more than swim lessons and sleep.  Gracie danced:

We caught fireflies (with a stop to a super secret place)

The kids got some fishing in:

there were cute ducks

and played in the sand (cause we NEVER do that at home!)

we played at the pool

and went to music at the lake (Grace got a cute ballerina painted on her face.)

then we went to see some fireworks and the kids played until they started

we went to the Nature Center

this otter LOVED gracie!

These bears totally had a fight shortly after that pic... I have video, but I have issues uploading video.

And we played at Oma/Opa's pool

I undid some braids and the kids let their hair hang down

And we played at Oma/Opa's pool some more

A raccoon came for a visit

Then we played an airplane game

And now ends week one.  Tomorrow starts hiking week and Fourth of July.   I will attempt to post before the camping trip of the year!  More on that later.
