She also had her first dance class. We have enrolled her into "creative movement". Personally, I don't think that small children need to know every ballet position, nor do I want to hear the annoying taps of uncoordinated children (and at the same time as 5 other, hell one other, kids... I might go ape shit!) and frankly, she knows how to tumble. The Dance Co-op doesn't even offer ballet until the child is 7. I think this is wise. The creative movement class introduces things such as tempo and rhythm. They do ballet positions, but they aren't named positions, they leap, and twirl, and get to play with scarves. Grace smiled the WHOLE freakin' time. The best part (to me!) is there is no recital (though they do two showcases a year.) Which means no recital fees, no costume fees... this equals a happier wallet!! They can wear anything they want to class...Grace has decided she needs a leotard and skirt (5 bucks used!!!) and ballet shoes. So there ya go. Her first class she went in shorts, a tshirt, and bare feet...
She is very happy about the whole thing and asks every morning if this is her dancing day. Alas.
Elijah had his first soccer practice on a soccer team. His team has 9 kids on it. And he looms over all of them. Alas. He cried and yelled that he didn't want to go, he didn't want his soccer stuff anymore, he was tired and wanted to go to bed... And then he got on the field...
When we got in the car, he said he wanted to go to soccer practice every day. Sigh. Not until lyou can drive yourself little man!! ;)
