Yes this is late! But I have been thinking about posting... so ya know, it's the thought that counts...right???
ANYWAY, our little bit is now one and a half years old. Some days I totally think she should be three, and others I wonder how the hell she got to be this old cause it seems like she was just born.
Grace's speech and sign are both taking off. She will carry on complete conversation that means nothing to anyone but her. She starts out these conversations by making sure she has your attention, "mama! Mama!! MAma!!!MAMA!!!!!!!!! hksudhflb raghluiar gal hailu hadskljfhlasdfwefb. ldasdfhkas. dfhadslfasdfasdhfvkadshfbakse....." These conversations have much pointing and many gestures, both hands and face. It really cracks me up. They all end with her looking directly at you expecting some sort of answer? reply? agreement? It's very amusing.
She is getting to the point that she understands when you tell her to use words or signs for help or a demand. I am working REALLY hard to nip the whining in the bud now... not that it won't develop, but one can hope. She understands requests made of her as well, though does not always follow them. She sometimes responds to these requests by looking right at you, smiling, and walking away with NO intention of following your request AT ALL... (punk!)
She LOVES to dance and has a very cute little shoulder shrug signature move. She has recently taken to making dolls and stuffed animals dance in front of her. It's quite cute!
She loves my shoes... well, anyone's shoes really. She will steal them and take her shoes off and put 2 different shoes on and walk around. She gets VERY mad if she can't get the shoe on and even MADDER if the too big shoe DARES to come off her foot.
Bringing me to the temper. This child can go from happy to steam-coming-out-of-the-ears mad in .06 seconds. I fear for the teenage years for this reason. She can usually be consoled, but is already throwing herself on the floor crying on occasion where nothing works but walking away. Sigh. I believe that there is a drama queen in the making. There is no rhyme or reason to what will set her off. She can't reach the knife block, someone breathed on her, the piece of paper she was holding fluttered when it should have flitted... Sometimes it's justified: Elijah took something out of her hands, she has to go to bed, I squirt saline up her nose... Regardless, I feel for her, I really do, but she has got to get over herself!
She also will roll her eyes in a VERY teenage way. Again, there is not always a rhyme or reason for it. I ask her if she wants more apple sauce, we tell her she has to pick up a toy, Elijah gives her a hug... There is very little doubt about who is control in this house...
She is going pee and poop in the potty! We aren't officially potty training, but if we ask her she will sometimes go sit on the potty and more than likely get something out. I'm impressed and cautiously optimistic for the end of diapers in our house.
Overall, we are very happy with the little bit! She is tall coming in at 31.5 inches and 22.5 pounds. She is taller but lighter than Elijah was at this age.
